Supervisor, Nobody Ages Out Program

You Gotta Believe (YGB) is looking to hire a Supervisor for their Nobody Ages Out Program! The Nobody Ages Out (NAO) program works with NYC foster care agencies to find parents for older youth in their foster boarding and residential care programs who are at risk of aging out of care and are in need of a permanent family.

Reporting to the Director of Youth Services, the NAO supervisor assists with clarifying and executing best practices for the organization. The supervisor is responsible for NAO functions and shares accountability for the overall achievement of NAO objectives.

The NAO supervisor manages a team of Youth Advocates and works closely with the Director of Youth Services to guide and support the advocates’ performance, in addition to helping the organization expand NAO’s reach, impact, and visibility across the country. The supervisor may participate in developing and implementing workshops and shares responsibility for communication across NAO participants, YGB staff, and Youth Advocates.

The NAO supervisor represents the NAO program and serves as an effective cultivator of agencies to engage in YGB’s mission, and contributes facilitative leadership, organization and task execution to support the Director of Youth Services, while supervising the youth advocate team, conducting their training, development, and coordinated actions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervision of Youth Advocates. Provides close supervision and supports achievement of self-defined learning goals, professional growth opportunities, educational goals, mental health needs and daily organizational priorities; cultivates individual and shared leadership; supports effective coordinated action and timely delivery on commitments; seeks to expand the team of youth leaders who effectively represent and spread the YGB/NAO mission.
  • Program Administration. Provides administrative support; creates and tracks assessments and feedback forms; approves bi-weekly time sheets; schedules opportunities for reporting and communications across staff. Drafts reports and correspondence, conducts faxing, filing, photocopying, travel arrangements, and maintains tracking information. Offers weekly assistance in creating NAO schedules, determining priority goals and tasks. Assign advocates to Game Nights, Quarantine and chill, empowerment groups, MAPP classes, all Workshop, and conferences.
  • Staff Collaboration. Maintains daily contact with the Director of Youth Services and other Senior Staff. Maintains written records and drafts communications and materials to support collaboration and accountability across staff and board.
  • Partner Agency – Client Communications and Service. Supports communications, scheduling, and assessment of agency services. Coordinates logistics and preparations for NAO’s workshops, meetings and special events. Assures that Advocates are effectively engaged in leadership roles.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Must have personal lived experience with the child welfare system.
  • Must have at least 2-4 years demonstrated experience as a supervisor
  • Must have at least four years of related work experience working with older youth in child welfare
  • Facilitation skills and comfortable presenting to YGB internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience and expertise with Excel, PowerPoint and desktop publishing software, designing flyers, brochures, and using visuals and graphic art
  • Extensive experience providing administrative and office management supports for a collaborative team; manage scheduling, clerical duties and providing diverse assistance
  • Experience cultivating shared leadership, and providing direction and support to foster effective teams

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Position is located in New York City and will require inner city travel; standing for two hours or more to conduct workshops, and sitting for long periods of computer work.

ENVIRONMENT

You Gotta Believe offers a creative, relatively quiet community space. There is flexibility in scheduling both work hours and location, as the project needs demand. Workspace differs from day-to-day, requiring flexibility and adaptability.
