[New York, NY] – As we wrap up the 2023 Adoption Awareness Month, You Gotta Believe proudly reflects on a month of impactful initiatives, collaborations, and advocacy for the 114,000 foster youth seeking permanent families nationwide. We stand united with partners, families, colleagues, and supporters in our unwavering commitment to ensuring no young person leaves foster care without the unconditional lifetime commitment of a family.

Looking ahead, we propose that every month be National Adoption Awareness Month. Join us throughout 2024 as we continue our mission to find permanent parents and families for older kids in the foster care system:

January: A Month of Reflection

Join You Gotta Believe to examine the profound impact of focusing on permanency as the solution for all foster youth. We’ll look back at 2023 and highlight the achievements of our staff, youth, and families with the support of community partners and supporters.

February: For the Love of Family!

You Gotta Believe will feature families who flourish thanks to ongoing support and adoption-competent services

March: Youth Centered Care Planning

During Social Work Month, You Gotta Believe will share testimonies from former foster youth about instances where caseworkers saw them and partnered to pave the road toward permanency.

Coinciding with Community College Awareness Month, You Gotta Believe will draw attention to the role permanency plays in helping former foster youth achieve higher education.

May: Recruiting Isn’t Enough, We Must Also Support Families

September: Navigating Transitions

Transitions, like going back to school, can be challenging for all kids, especially those who have experienced foster care. Throughout September, You Gotta Believe’s mental health team offers tips for families navigating transitions.

October: Moral Adoption

You Gotta Believe advocates for permanency even when legal adoption is not an option. We call this Moral Adoption.

November: Adoption Awareness Month

Join us as we commemorate Adoption Awareness Month, highlighting the urgent need for permanent families for the 114,000 foster youth.
