Nia Potter was introduced to YGB through her inquiry to participate in the YGB Instagram live discussions. Although she was not connected to YGB as a youth in care or a YGB family, she understands the importance of unconditional commitment and has found that in her high school guidance counselor. Now 27, Nia prides herself as an advocate for children’s rights and is excited to share her story of moral adoption to other youth to instill hope that they can have family too.

Nia grew up in the New York State Foster Care System from the age of 4 until she aged out at 21. She has lived experience in Residential Treatment Centers, Group Homes, Foster Homes, Reunification Efforts and Kinship Placements.
